My name is Staci Zimmerman. I am the intermediate multi-intensive autism teacher. I received my undergraduate degree in sociology, from The University of Kansas (Go Jayhawks!), and my master's in special education from The University of Kansas. I attended The University of Kansas Medical School for a PhD program, in the area of Special Education, specifically autism, however, after a year, I decided to leave for the mountains and move to Colorado. This is my fifth year at Asbury. Before I came to DPS, I taught in Cherry Creek Schools and private schools. I have been teaching special education for ten years. My philosophy is to integrate our students, building communication and social skills. After work and on the weekends, you can find me at the JCC or DU/Ritchie Center. I am a fitness instructor at both clubs. I teach aerobics, core conditioning, yoga/pilates, boot camp, and kickboxing. I enjoy hiking and running the stairs at red rocks on the weekends.
